What a strange year 2020 has turned out to be! Despite the huge upheaval caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we at Harlow SSP (in conjunction with our Essex SGO counterparts) have tried our best to continue to inspire all schools, staff and pupils to develop a love of sport and exercise through a series of virtual competitions.
Virtual Cheerleading Competition
Firstly, a big thank you to all those schools who were able to accommodate Mikey Smith (Oblivion Allstars). As you are no doubt all aware, many businesses are struggling in these times and we were delighted to be able to support someone who has provided such an excellent service and inspiration to Harlow for the past few years. Hopefully, this has enabled us to continue to use Mikey’s expertise for future generations of our school children.
The videos received, showed yet again how quickly that Cheerleading has become such a strength within our area. The routines were amazing and it is clear that all the children taking part thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Mikey was able to judge the entries independently and has produced the following results:
KS2 upper
1st Church Langley
2nd Tanys Dell – Year 6
3rd Pear Tree Mead
4th Little Pardon
5th Church gate Rockets Yr 6
6th Churchgate Flyers Yr 6
7th Churchgate Rockets Yr 5

The winners from each of the 3 categories will have their videos forwarded to the Essex County Finals. There is no further action required for these schools. We are hoping to be able to provide an option were all schools are able to view all the entries – though this may take a week as some routines are protected by safeguarding and we do not want to rush and compromise children, staff or schools.
