Nazeing triumph in Hockey Finals
Congratulations to Nazeing who narrowly pipped Henry Moore 1 in a really close final, which ebbed and flowed throughout the game.
From the 31 teams who attended last week’s qualifiers, the 8 finalists returned to Church Langley Astro to compete for the final on a bright and breezy Friday afternoon. The teams were divided into 2 groups of 4 and once again, the umpires (David Stacey and Luke Hammond) presided over a well-organised tournament. Eventually after all the group games were completed, the final between Henry Moore 1 and Nazeing was an exciting affair. Both sets of players showed great skill and composure, with Henry Moore opening the scoring with a well-worked goal from a defense-splitting long pass. The lead lasted barely a minute as Nazeing hit back almost immediately from the restart. Both teams pressed for the winner, with a disallowed goal preceding the winning score from Nazeing.
The result from the finals were as follows:
Group 1
1st– Henry Moore 1 – 8 points
2nd– Henry Moore 2 – 7 points
3rd– Cooks Spinney – 6 points
4th- Milwards – 3 points
Group 2
1st– Nazeing 1 – 8 points
2nd - Church Langley 1 – 7 points
3rd – Katherines – 5 points
4th - Church Langley 2 – 4 points
