St Albans take home the Best Team Trophy

Congratulations to the team from St Albans, who took home the football finals trophy and will represent Harlow in the forthcoming County Finals in Colchester.

Once again Mark Hall Academy all-weather pitch played host to the winning 8 teams from the previous qualifying rounds. As always the standard at a finals event is high and the scores were very even throughout the series of group matches. With only 10 minutes to play, some teams (most notably Henry Moore) found themselves on the wrong side of results, despite displaying obvious quality – in the end it often comes down to taking chances. This was no more evident than in the eventual result – St Albans who had ‘parked the proverbial bus’ in the opening matches, clinched the final with a super goal on the counter-attack despite being under pressure throughout; Nazeing were unlucky runners-up but should feel very proud of their achievements.

The results were as follows:

Group 1

Nazeing – 7 points

Holy Cross – 7 points

Churchgate – 2 points

Little Parndon - 3 points

Group 2:

St Albans – 7 points

Henry Moore – 6 points

St Lukes – 6 points

Potter Street – 4 points
