Church Langley take 50th Anniversary Cup

On one of the hottest days this year, teams from Nazeing, Church Langley, Jerounds and Milwards ventured across to Harlow Town FC to take part in the final rounds of this year's Football Knockout Cup; this year being the 50th Anniversary of this knockout cup, it has been renamed after Terry Coxhead, who worked tirelessly promoting and organising football for thousands of children in Harlow before retiring from teaching a few years ago.

With Jerounds already knocking out Milwards in their semi-final, Nazeing and Church Langley battled it out in the sweltering heat to see who would face Jerounds in the final. The match was exciting, with both teams playing some good football, keeping the ball on the floor and passing quickly; Church Langley eventually triumphed 2-0.

Simultaneously Nazeing and Milwards played for 3rd/4th place, whilst Church Langley and Jerounds competed alongside for the final. Again some exciting, end-to-end football was witnessed by a large crowd; Milwards won 2-1 to claim 3rd place, whilst Church Langley edged a close game 1-0 to take the trophy. All 4 teams were sporting in their conduct and received medals from Arnold Worton (Harlowbury School and Football School's Co-Ordinator for Harlow) and ex Harlow Town player Leo Roget.

Once again David Stacey (SGO for Harlow) thanked all the supporters, players, Mr Worton, Leo Roget and Harlow Town FC for working together to make this a fantastic end to a long season - well done to all involved.
