Congratulations to the Church Langley Girls' cricket team, who narrowly edged out a spirited Katherines Primary School to retain the trophy for the fourth successive year. 11 teams congregated at Harlow Town Cricket Club and took part in a series of matches throughout the day (in a variety of weather conditions!) Over 100 girls displayed improving skills throughout the day and clearly enjoyed themselves, despite the hailstones and torrential down-pouring. Students and staff from the Passmores Academy were fantastic in their support for this year’s event; umpiring, scoring and coaching the girls throughout - the HSSP would like to echo the thanks given at the event; they really helped to ensure the event ran smoothly.
Church Langley and Katherines were the only unbeaten teams from the morning’s pool group, with Church Langley narrowly edging them out during a thrilling encounter which saw some amazing catches and lightning fielding. Holy Cross A rallied well to take third place with a last ball victory over the new champions. Harlow SGO David Stacey praised the efforts of all the teams and thanked the girls, members of staff and the organisers for “playing through difficult conditions to conclude the tournament.” Yet again Primary School Sport was the winner.
