The Downs awarded the David Bown' Trophy

Once again, the heavens smiled down on the good deeds begin undertaken by the children and schools from Harlow. A fantastic morning of tag-rugby was played at the Harlow Rugby Club where teams from Newhall Primary, Hatfield Heath (x 2), Cooks Spinney (x 2), St Nicholas (x 2), Tanys Dell, The Downs, Freshwaters (x 2), Church Langley (x 2) and Henry Moore came together to develop their skills and remember the fantastic work of former St Nicholas Head Teacher – David Bown, who tragically lost his life in a road traffic accident.

SGO, David Stacey, was delighted that David’s wife Monica was able to present the trophy to The Downs Primary – who, like so many of the schools, were fantastic throughout the morning of learning and fun. Certificates were presented to all the attending players and there were a number of lovely comments made by spectators on how well the children played and the sportsmanship they showed towards each other.

Monica Bown was delighted to share the trophy in honour of her late husband, who was a fanatical rugby fan. David Stacey is organising a donation from all of the Harlow Schools to a charity to which Monica is connected.
