At last, today felt like a return to some normality – an outside event, spectators and hundreds of kids making great improvements! Thank you to everyone who came and supported today’s Tag-Rugby events held at the impressive Harlow Rugby Club – big thanks to Michael Weston and Michael Lyons for arranging the venue; it’s a fantastic space and very inspiring for the young athletes.
And so to the event. With 15 teams attending in the morning session and 13 attending in the afternoon, it proved to be a busy day. Over 280 children played across the 56 matches. Our thanks to Luke Hammond (Purford Green), Jay Odebode (Little Parndon), Andy Martin (Passmores) and Michael Lyons (Harlow Rugby Club) who assisted David Stacey and Gill Pardoe with the officiating.
The games were fast-flowing, with some great skills on show. Despite a vast array of tricky rules, the children managed themselves really well and there were numerous examples of sporting behaviours and impressive developments – especially amongst the children who were playing competitively for the first time in many years.
The winners of each group will progress to the Tri-Cluster Finals afternoon, which is being held at the Harlow Rugby Club on Wednesday 16thMarch.
