Multicultural Festival – signs of new hope?

Wow! What a feeling of hope and inspiration the children from Church Langley and St Nicholas schools provided on the final afternoon of the half-term. Despite the understandable difficulty in preparing a performance, the two schools defied the obstacles which many others succumbed too, to produce a show worthy of any Olympic/Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.

Taking inspiration from the competing Commonwealth countries, the children performed dances from Kenya, Canada, England, New Zealand, India and South Africa. The children moved and gyrated with great energy and enthusiasm, but it was the finale that really pulled at the heartstrings. Having watched all the dances, the children of Church Langley invited the St Nicholas children to join them for their medley dance. Without any preparation, all the children joined together to perform moves, linking arms and signifying the beginning of a new chapter of hope and happiness. It really was an amazing feeling!
