Congratulations to the team from Cooks Spinney, who edged out the other 7 teams in an amazingly tight hockey finals at Church Langley Primary School. The 8 qualifiers from last week’s events descended upon the all-weather pitch in glorious sunshine, which was stark contrast to last week’s arctic snowy conditions!
The standard of play was really high, with the participants showing great respect for each other and magnificent technic to avoid the ball with their feet and reverse the sticks to prevent from giving away penalties. Across 28 games, the lack of goals was a testament to the fabulous defenses and determination to compete. However, after all 8 teams had played each other Cooks Spinney edged out Nazeing and Henry Moore, who couldn’t be separated in the runner’s-up positions.
Final positions were as follows:
Cooks Spinney – 19 points
Nazeing – 17 points
Henry Moore – 17 points
Roydon 1 – 12 points
Roydon 2 – 12 points
Hatfield Heath – 12 points
Milwards – 12 points
Little Parndon – 11 points
As winners of the Harlow finals, Cooks Spinney will go forward to represent the town in the Essex County Finals later in the spring term. We wish them well.
