Well done to the 20 teams who braved the elements throughout the day as the two hockey qualifying events ran despite a myriad of weather conditions. Torrential downpours threaten the event early on as the delayed start allowed the morning teams some rest bite for the heavy rain. Once underway the athletes played really well in bitterly cold temperatures. As many blew warmth into freezing fingers the standard of play improved as the children got to grips with the challenging technical aspects of the game.
The afternoon began in glorious sunshine, though the wind chill served to keep players honest. Again the 10 teams played really well and huge improvement was noticeable in each team as the event progressed.
A big thank you to all the staff and participants for braving the elements and producing two events of high standard. The top two teams from each of the four groups (2 morning and 2 afternoon groups) will return to Church Langley next Friday morning for the finals and the chance to represent Harlow in the Essex County Finals.
