Congratulations to The Downs, who will be representing Harlow at next month’s County Finals, having won this afternoon's event.
With 9 teams booked on, the event was more manageable than the previous year and the 8 tables were needed. Thanks to Neil Brierley from BATTS who supported the today's event so well; it was great to see the children thoroughly engaged in this sport - they really made excellent progress throughout the afternoon.
The teams were split into 3 intial groups, before being re-pooled for the final stages. The final standing were as follows:
Group 1
The Downs C – 6 points
Cooks Spinney A – 4 points
Cooks Spinney B – 2 points
Group 2
Fawbert and Barnard A – 6 points
The Downs B – 4 points
St Lukes – 2 points
Group 3
The Downs A – 6 points
St Albans – 4 points
Fawbert and Barnard B – 2 points
Thanks to all the adults for their support in umpiring and ensuring that the children were in place to play - this all helped ensure a smooth afternoon, considering the number of teams and the nature of the activity. Special thanks to Gill Pardoe and Sam Hammond for running the event in David’s absence (Church Langley sports afternoon). A great job everyone.
