BOOM!
What an epic afternoon event! With 12 teams, only 2 courts available and 15 matches on each pitch there was always some hesitation about how smoothly our Dodgeball Finals would be…BUT we smashed it! Once again, with thanks to many staff who supported Gill Pardoe and myself, we were able to run a ‘slick’ event which produced some excellent contests.
The qualifying teams from last week’s events were split into two groups of 6, playing each other before the eventual final. The Downs and Cooks Spinney both won their respective groups and competed in the most thrilling final ever. With the score at 1 game each and the final deciding game going to a golden minute, Cooks Spinney snatched victory with the final blow.
Thanks to all the staff who made this event happen and especially who joined Mrs Pardoe, Mr Hammond and myself with some of the officiating duties. We shall be looking towards expanding this event next year to 18 teams and using the whole sports hall. The results and final group placings are listed below:
Group 1
Cooks Spinney – 15 points
Holy Cross – 13 points
Church Langley – 11 points
Fawbert and Barnard – 9 points
Tanys Dell (Grey) – 7 points
St Albans – 5 points
Group 2
Tanys Dell (Green) – 7 points
William Martin – 11 points
Water Lane – 11 points
The Downs – 13 points
Tanys Dell (Maroon) – 9 points
Pear Tree Mead – 9 points
