The 10 teams who had qualified from last week’s events returned to Mark Hall Academy this afternoon to contest the Harlow primary school’s basketball finals. The teams were placed in two groups and each team played 4 games. The matches were very even with many baskets being scored and the players showing an impressive range of dribbling and passing skills. Throughout the afternoon all the players showed great respect for each together in what can be a physically demanding sport. Eventually St Lukes A and Church Langley A topped their respective groups and then played the final. With both teams boasting an unbeaten record it was always going to be a close affair - Church Langley eventually pipped a superb St Lukes 18 - 10 and will represent Harlow in the Winter Games Level 3 competition. Roydon A outscored Church Langley B to take the bronze award in the 3rd/4thplayoff. The final standings of both groups were:
Group 1:
St Lukes A - 12 points (WWWW)
Church Langley B - 9 points (DWWL)
Pear Tree Mead A - 8 points (WLWL)
William Martin - 7 points (DLWL)
Roydon B - 4 points (LLLL)
Group 2:
Church Langley A - 12 points (WWWW)
Roydon A - 10 points (WWLW)
Pear Tree Mead B - 8 points (WLLW)
Tanys Dell - 6 points (WLLL)
St Lukes B - 4 points (LLLL)
Thanks were given to Mrs Pardoe and Mr Stacey for umpiring all the matches. Again this was a really well attended tournament, with over 220 participants competing.
