If Thursday was great, then Friday was simply outstanding. A return to the Gifted and Talented Primary Schools PE Day, saw 62 pupils from 13 schools participate in a range of sporting activities at Mark Hall Sports Centre. Designed to challenge these more physically able pupils and extend physical development, the pupils took part in a morning of Cheerleading, Laser-Tag, Benchball and Scootering; before playing uv dodgeball during the afternoon. It was great to see the students interact with new faces and create new friendships across different schools.
Thanks again to Gill Pardoe, Luke Hammond, John Esteves, Jay Kotun and Ollive and Luke (from Sports Cool) who assisted in running the different events; we saved nearly a £1000 on previous costs by running the events ourselves. We had significantly less behavioural issues than previous days, the children worked so well together and were incredibly respectful. Please pass on our thanks to them for their excellent attitude and attainment.
Time was given to feedback on their achievements throughout the day and reflect upon the PE provision provided within their own schools, offering insights and a pupil voice on how school staff could improve PE lessons. I will be collating the children’s feedback and sending this out – please share their ideas with your schools, OFSTED are very big on pupil voice at the moment and some of the suggestions from the kids are easily manageable.
