Nazeing win Basketball by single basket!
Congratulations went to Nazeing who managed to secure victory at the Basketball Finals by the tightest margin possible. With 6 teams qualifying from the original 30 teams last week, the finals were always going to be close; the standard of play was high but pleasingly the children were able to show great respect and sportsmanship to prevent games from becoming too physical.
All 6 finalists played each other over two courts, with Luke Hammond and David Stacey running to a very tight schedule. The final scores reflected the close competitive nature of the afternoon with Nazeing edging out Jerounds by a single basket, having scored the same number of points, drawn their head-to-head game it came down to baskets scored; Nazeing scored 60 points, with Jerounds on 58 points.
Congratulations to Nazeing, who will now represent Harlow in the County Finals at Colchester University in mid-January 2024.
Final results:
1st - Nazeing - 14 points
2nd - Jerounds - 14 points
= 3rd - Churchgate - 9 points
= 3rd - Freshwaters (pink) - 9 points
5th - Freshwaters (silver) - 8 points
6th - Hare Street - 6 points
