Congratulations to all the 19 teams who took part in this afternoon’s Futsal Festival at Mark Hall Sports Centre. Our first venture back to MHA this year proved a great success; the newly maintained floor made everything look brighter and cleaner and the futsal play wasn’t bad either! Using our adapted formats of 4 v 4, with less players on the pitch than in other football competitions, the additional space allowed better play. Once again, the goalkeeping was very impressive and goals were usually well-worked.
The mid-morning event saw 10 teams battle it out in 2 groups before a final ranked game against an opponent from the opposite group. The results were as follows:
1st place – Nazeing 1
2nd place – Freshwater 1
3rd place – Church Langley 1
4th place – Church Langley 2
5th place – Potter Street
6th place – Cooks Spinney
7th place – Nazeing 2
8th place – Freshwaters 2
9th place – The Downs 1
10th place – The Downs 2
The afternoon saw 9 teams compete in 3 groups across 2 pitches; the teams were re-pooled to play in a ranked group. The results were as follows:
1st place – Saint Nicholas
2nd place – Nazeing 1
3rd place – Tanys Dell 1
4th place – Purford Green
5th place – Tanys Dell 2
6th place – Nazeing 2
7th place – St James 1
8th place - Pemberley
9th place – St James 2
Thank you to Luke Hammond, Gill Pardoe and the school staff for supporting this event. The teams were fantatsic and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
After the conclusion of the group games, all the teams were ranked and played a final match against the corresponding team. The final, between Church Langley 1 and St Nicholas, was a tight affair; St Nicholas took the lead, before Church Langley 1 equalised. Church Langley 1 were denied victory with a very strong save in the dying seconds of the game.
