FORE! Tri-Golf Success, despite wet weather.
Once again the Golfing Gods decided to play-up for the annual Tri-Golf Festivals at Church Langley Primary School. The morning event started well with the teams of 4 having time to practise each of the 8 different holes. The children enjoyed chipping, putting and trying to gain as few points as possible – ‘Scoring Low, Makes You Glow!’ was the motto. Having spent time trying to improve their technique through the activities, the idea was for each pupil to have a ‘one-off’ attempt on each hole, trying to score as fewer points as possible. Unfortunately for the budding golfers, the heavy rain made keeping score virtually impossible. With indecipherable soggy score sheets, the competition element was ‘abandoned’, which didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the morning.
Teams who attended the morning were: Nazeing x 3, Potter Street, Purford Green, the Downs, Saint Nicholas x 2, St Albans, St Lukes, Hare Street and Cooks Spinney x 2
Thankfully the afternoon event saw a break in the weather, as older pupils from Year 5 and 6, continued the same format as the morning’s event. The older golfers enjoyed much calmer weather and were able to produce some excellent results.
Teams who attended the afternoon were: The Downs, Nazeing x 3, Hatfield Heath, Saint Nicholas x 2, Church Langley x 4 and Cooks Spinney x 2
David Stacey (Church Langley) gave thanks to all the schools in attendance and to the children who behaved beautifully and really enjoyed trying something different.
