Once again, the primary school staff of Harlow have worked together to create new and exciting opportunities for the local children. Developed from an initial suggestion by Luke Hammond (Purford Green), School Games Organiser David Stacey, applied for and acquired funding from Active Essex via a Travel Grant and Environmental Festival Grant to purchase brand new bikes, helmets and storage. This enabled the HDPSSA to add new Cycling Festivals to an already jam-packed sports calendar.
The inaugural event took place at Church Langley Primary School this Friday morning, where some 40+ young pupils from 7 schools came together to try out ideas for cycling activities. The children were able to give lots of useful feedback and together with the staff evaluations changes and adaptations were made and a future plan of action (including the purchase of more bikes and helmets) was drawn up.
The morning’s activities were lots of fun and the children were able to show some of their agility skills, long distance stamina and balance throughout a range of made-up games.
SGO David Stacey gave thanks to all those in attendance.
