Children thrilled by Disney Shooting Stars

Thank you to the children and staff members from Freshwaters, Pear Tree Mead and Church Langley, who came together at Mark Hall Sports Centre to try out some ideas using the FA Disney Shooting Stars program. The children had great fun and they really enjoyed exploring some of the activities from the Toy Story 4 and Guardians of the Galaxy resources.

With 6 Sports Leaders from Church Langley supporting, the children played a series of physical activities designed to develop their ‘invasion game’ skills; they listened to various extracts related to the film before playing games in a scenario. The event was great fun and the children particularly enjoyed how active and involved the adults were. One of the great successes from the afternoon event was the opportunity for the children to share ideas linked to mental health and well-being; they were able to share some fantastic ideas about helping people who are lonely and supporting friends who are having a hard time.

We are very excited about expanding this program during he summer term and plans are in place to deliver events for primary schools based in the nearby secondary school. Andy Martin from Passmores has actively supported the program and is working closely with David Stacey (SGO) to provide more schools with the opportunity to receive free resources from the FA.
