Despite the windy conditions playing havoc with the barrier tape, the incredible team of Harlow primary school staff ensured that once again the cross-country event was awesome and that the children had an amazing time. The roars from the crowds of spectators heralded the start of each of the 8 races in the annual cross-country event at Mark Hall Sports Centre; the atmosphere was amazing and the runners responded and rose to the occasion. With the help of some fantastic sports leaders from Mark Hall to act as Hares and Tortoises, some volunteer marshals and first aid from Church Langley parent body, the event ran amazingly well with very few car parking or safeguarding issues.
Throughout the day approximately 1000 runners competed and many completed personal best times around the morning course for children in Years 3 and 4 (1000m approximately) and the afternoon course for pupils in Years 5 and 6 (1500m approximately).
A full list of results has been sent to the schools and invitations for the top team and the 3 best individuals has been sent for the Essex County Finals taking place in Southend next week.
