After nearly 15 years of waiting, Friday saw the welcome return of the Harlow Schools Primary Swimming Gala and the event proved a HUGE hit with everyone. After months of liaising and with the support of the Leisure Zone, David Stacey (SGO Harlow) was proud to host an event for 15 schools. The pool was rammed with the buzz of excited children and the balconies were busy with eager spectators - the venue was perfect and the Leisure Zone couldn’t have been more helpful, providing plenty of staff to answer any questions and solve any issues, which were bound to occur with such a new event.
The event, though slightly longer than scheduled, ran really well and this was a direct result of the amazing teamwork on display by all the participating school staff members; the children were able to flourish in the water due to the efforts of their school staff on poolside. The gala was thrilling, with the drama of close finishes, a couple of near-drownings and some fantastic individual performances.
The result have been sent to all the schools but special congratulations to the 2 overall school winners - Churchgate who won the Year 3/4 Cup and Henry Moore who took the Year 5/6 Cup.
