Virtual Sportshall Athletics 2020

What a strange year 2020 has turned out to be! Despite the huge upheaval caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we at Harlow SSP (in conjunction with our Essex SGO counterparts) have tried our best to continue to inspire all schools, staff and pupils to develop a love of sport and exercise through a series of virtual competitions.

Virtual Sportshall Competition

The following results have been sent to me and the scores have been verified as far as possible. Where there were initial discrepancies, I have either gone into the school to verify the results or where this wasn’t allowed I have spoken at length to trusted members of the HDPSSA who have re-checked results, sent videos and personally measured the children’s efforts. Personally, I feel a little sad that our amazingly loyal and supportive schools may feel like their judgements have been criticised but as SGO’s we were given clear instructions about verification of scores. Again, I really appreciate the tie and efforts given by staff to encourage the children to be active – this is far more important to me than winning and entering the County Finals. That said, the nature of the events required such placings and these are now as follows:

Years 1 and 2

1.      The Downs – 1117 points

2.      St Lukes – 894 points

3.      St Albans – 858 points

4.      Little Parndon – 799 points

Years 3 and 4

1.      Cooks Spinney – 2009 points

2.      Church Langley – 1858 points

3.      Henry Moore – 1831

4.      Little Parndon – 1798 points

5.      The Downs – 1635 points

6.      St Albans – 1323 points

7.      St Lukes – 919 points

Years 5 and 6

1.      Church Langley – 2448 points

2.      Henry Moore – 2435 points

3.      Cooks Spinney – 2251 points

4.      Little Parndon – 2226 points

5.      The Downs – 2191 points

6.      St Lukes – 1624 points

7.      St Albans – 1072 points

The winners from each of the 3 categories will have their scores put forward to the Essex County Finals. There is no further action required for these schools.
