FORE!
Once again, Harlow SSP continues to offer new and exciting opportunities for the Primary School children in our area; this time it was a Tri Golf Festival.
With a potential 34 teams and over 140 children, organising such an event was always going to be a tough ask. Thankfully Mark Hall PE department were able to facilitate use of the sports centre and with SGO David Stacey arriving at 7am to set up, the event was a resounding success.
Starting at 9.30am, the teams of 4 children were accompanied by adults who were able to explain and offer advice during the practise sessions. The children worked well as a team to provide encouragement and ideas on how best to approach each hole. Some of the holes required skill to chip over obstacles and hit the fairways, whilst others required the deftest of touches on the lightning fast ‘greens’.
With a practise round under the belts, the children played for real – having two shots at each hole. The results were impressive and the children had an excellent time. Once scores had been verified, the winners were as follows:
Winning Team: St Nicholas A
Runner –up: St Nicholas B
Winning Individual: Lucy (St Nicholas)
Runner-Up: Ben (Hatfield Heath)
