Wow!...Just Wow!
Yet again, Harlow Primary Schools continue to challenge themselves and provide even wider opportunities -this time in the form of our first ever Archery Festival. A staggering 26 teams arrived at Mark Hall Sports Centre to take part and between them and the fantastic school staff, they produce an amazing event!
The children were grouped and entered a first round of matches – firing 8 arrows against an opponent equally ranked. Despite this taking longer than expected (the bows were quite tricky to reload!) the teams were re-pooled. With only 20 minutes remaining, the game format changed and competitors were into a sudden death shootout – 1 arrow only! The children rose to the challenge and eventually Longwood and Holy Cross took the winning titles; they will now represent Harlow at the forthcoming Archery County Finals later in the year.
Listed below are the schools who entered this morning were:
St James x 4
Tanys Dell x 2
Hare Street x 2
Cooks Spinney x 2
Longwood
Latton Green
Pear Tree Mead x 3
St Lukes
St Albans
Church Langley x 2
The Downs x 2
Purford Green x 2
Little Parndon x 2
Holy Cross
As always with new events, things will be reviewed and adapted to ensure an even better event next year. Thanks as always to the staff and children for adapting so brilliantly this morning.
