Congratulations to Fawbert and Barnard, who will be representing Harlow at next week’s County Finals, having won this afternoon's event.
With 16 teams booked on, the event has expanded 150% from last year and the 8 tables were needed. Thanks to Neil Brierley from BATTS who supported the today's event so well; it was great to see so many children thoroughly engaged in this sport - they really made excellent progress throughout the afternoon.
The teams were split into 4 groups:
Group 1
Fawbert and Barnard B
Tanys Dell A
The Downs C
St Lukes
Group 2
Fawbert and Barnard A
Cooks Spinney A
The Downs B
Tanys Dell B
Group 3
Fawbert and Barnard C
St Albans
Pemberley A
Group 4
The Downs A
Pemberley B
Cooks Spinney B
Harlowbury
The four group winners played in the semi-finals with Fawbert A triumphing over St Lukes and St Albans edging out The Downs on point count back. The final was a very tense affair with both Fawbert and Barnard and St Albans finishing with 2 wins and 2 losses from the four games. Again points count back was required, with Fawbert and Barnard's securing the win.
Thanks to all the adults for their support in umpiring and ensuring that the children were in place to play - this all helped ensure a smooth afternoon, considering the number of teams and the nature of the activity. A great job everyone.
