Well done to everyone who came and supported our first ever Level 2 Primary Badminton Festival at Mark Hall Sports Academy. With a flurry of late entries, we welcomed an amazing 14 teams who played a variety of warm-up games linked to the various skills involved with Badminton.
The children had a great time before being grouped and playing in doubles matches against other schools. Obviously with a trial event there was always going to be some players who found it quite tricky - especially the serving, but with some excellent coaching and guidance all players were able to participate and compete. Towards the end of the morning, once some of the players had warmed-up, we actually saw some decent rallies and a few drop shots; some good Badminton was played.
Thanks to all the staff who made this event happen and especially who joined Mrs Pardoe, Mr Hammond and myself with some of the officiating duties. We shall be looking towards expanding this event next year to 18 teams and using the whole sports hall.
