Tanys Dell Triumph in Girls 5/6 Event

Once again the sun shone down on the Years 5/6 Girls Football Finals at Mark Hall Academy. 14 teams and over 130 young girls came together to play in a series of group matches with none of the dramas that we unfortunately see in the male version of the game. The girls were an absolute joy to coach and clearly made progress in terms of game understanding and tactics. There were smiles all round as we managed to squeeze in a staggering 43 matches within the allocated 2hours; this doesn’t happen without the amazing support from many schools, providing referees to assist myself and Gill Pardoe – thanks again to Alan Prentice, John Esteves, Phil Tucker and the coach from Holy Cross – who all pitched in to ensure that the event ran so smoothly.

Eventually, despite the results being very close, both groups produced a top two and Tanys Dell A competed in the final against The Downs A; once again the match was very evenly contested. A couple of very strong runs by Mia and Taylor from Tanys Dell resulted in excellent goals which eventually proved decisive.  Congratulations to Tanys Dell who had a wonderful day, finishing joint-winners of the Futsal Festival and outright winners of the Girls Football. We wish them all the very best as they represent Harlow in the Girls Football Finals at Shrub End in Colchester.
