Congratulations to the wining team from the Henry Moore School, who narrowly pipped Nazeing Primary School to take victory in this year’s Netball Finals at Mark Hall Academy.
Eight teams had qualified from the previous rounds, held at local secondary schools, and the standard of play was excellent; the number of coaches on hand to assist teams sometimes came close to matching the number of players on court! The afternoon began with some warm-up matches as teams required a little practice to adjust to the more stringent application of the Hi-5’s rules. The group games followed and both the Henry Moore and Nazeing dominated their respective groups on their way to the final. In a close final, an unfortunate head injury halted proceedings at 3-3 - though the young lady from Henry Moore was up and about to see her team clinch the win with 2 late scores in the final half. An excellent final match - we wish the Henry Moore School all the very best as they represent Harlow in the Level 3 County Finals at the Basildon Sporting Village as part of this year’s Summer Games.
Results from the group matches are as follows:
Group 1
Church Langley - 4 points
Purford Green - 6 points
Nazeing - 9 points
Cooks Spinney - 5 points
Group 2
Henry Moore - 9 points
Fawbert and Barnard - 3 points
St Albans - 7 points
Hatfield Heath - 5 points
