Boccia and Curling event a HUGE success

Amazing! This is the only way to describe the Boccia and Curling events of today at Mark Hall Academy. A massive thank you to the staff and pupils of the 32 teams who attended either this morning’s Year 1/2 event or the afternoon spectacular that was the Years 3/4 and 5/6 event; I left the hall immensely proud of what we continue to achieve for all the pupils of Harlow Primary schools, particularly those who find taking part in sport such a challenge. The children were outstanding and the smiling faces (not to mention the vast improvements seen) were justification, should it ever be needed, of the importance of making sport accessible to all.

Special thanks as always to Gill Pardoe, whose enthusiasm and commitment shines through at every event. Gill was one of an army of ‘helpers’ who encouraged and coached a wide range of children throughout the day. The 6 Sports Leaders from Church Langley did a great job, as did the members of the staff - Luke Hammond, Sam Mortimer and Miles, McCarthy who helped officiate. It was really exciting to see teams from Latton Green, Longwood and Harlowbury join the ‘usual crews’ and they played really well.

Teams participating today were:

Years 1/2 - Church Langley, Harlowbury x 4, Tanys Dell, Pear Tree Mead x 2, St Albans, St Lukes and William Martin.

Years 3/4 - Church Langley, Longwood, St Lukes, St Albans, William Martin, Pear Tree Mead, Tanys Dell, and Holy Cross.

Boccia Winners - Tanys Dell, Church Langley and St Albans  (all tied for 1stplace).

Curling Winners - Holy Cross (1st) Church Langley (2nd) and St Lukes (3rd)

Years 5/6 - Church Langley, Latton Green, St Lukes, St Albans x 2, William Martin, Pear Tree Mead, Purford Green and Holy Cross.

Boccia Winners - St Albans B (1st), St Albans A (2nd) and Church Langley (3rd)

Curling Winners - Longwood (1st), Church Langley (2nd) and St Albans (3rd)

Well done to all.
