Gifted and Talented Day 1 success

What an amazing day!

Thank you to all the 73 pupils who attended this years Gifted and Talented Day 1 at Mark Hall Academy. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and the pupils performed really well throughout, making new friendships and learning new skills. The morning began with a rotation of 4 activities (BMX, Trampolining, Bench-ball and Boccia/Curling), the children were spilt into small groups and spent 45 minutes on each. The BMX proved as popular as ever, with Julian Allen (Braintree Bullets Head Coach) organising a race course which provided the element of competition that these children thrive on. Inside the sports hall, the children became very competitive with the Boccia, Curling and Bench-ball; adapting their performances to suit the environments. Trampolining was a big hit as the children, under expert tuition from APEX trampolining’s Jane, bounced their way to success.

During the afternoon the pupils were divided into 4 teams to compete and develop their sportshall athletics skills. The many races provided different challenges and the children soon understood that being ‘fast’ isn’t always necessary; the number of time penalties acquired by the quicker (less careful) athletes kept everyone honest.

Thanks as ever to all the schools for nominating their pupils; to the pupils for their efforts and enthusiasm and to the coaches (Mrs Pardoe, Julian, Jane - from APEX Trampolining and Mr Pardoe).
