The Indoor Sportshall competition continued into the afternoon as the older children (Years 5 and 6) went toe-to-toe in a series of track and field events. Once again the standard of competition was very high, with new teams entering the competition and really pushing the levels up a gear or two.
As the decibel levels reached ear-splitting levels, the scores became closer as the action intensified. There was a real glut of ‘speed merchants’ on display, whilst the ‘pocket-rockets’ shone in the obstacle and over/under races.
Again, thanks was given to Adam Burgess (Sportshall UK) for running the event and to the Sports Leaders from Mark Hall Academy who officiated, judged and demonstrated all the activities. The final results were:
1. Church Langley 304 points
2. St Lukes 290 points
3. Pear Tree Mead 270 points
4. William Martin 260 points
5. Hare Street 238 points
6. Churchgate 174 points
7. Fawbert and Barnard 117 points
8. Tanys Dell 84 points
Congratulations to Church Langley who narrowly edged out St Lukes by only 14 points to retain the Indoor Sportshall trophy. Well done to all the teams and competitors involved; like the morning event, there were plenty of personal achievements and many smiling faces.
