Congratulations to the boys team of swimmers from Churchgate who took part in the EAST & SOUTH EAST – 2016 DIVISIONAL qualifiers for the NATIONAL SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS – RELAYS.
The event took place in Woodside Leisure Centre, Watford on Friday. Churchgate, with a team of 4 swimmers, entered the championship for the first time and were unsure of what to expect. There were schools there from Hertfordshire, Essex, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire.
The boys swam really well, winning their heats in both the small schools freestyle relay and the medley before going on to take first place in both races.
Churchgate now have to wait until April to see if their winning times will earn them a place in the National Finals in Sheffield in June.
Head teacher Jonathan Tye said "The boys were outstanding and represented our school, and Harlow, with great pride and excitement. Fingers crossed we will have a Harlow school at the National Schools Swimming Championship!"
Everyone in the HSSP wishes Churchgate the best of luck and we all look forward to hearing about their success in the National finals.
