Boccia and Curling a HUGE success

Considering this was our first attempt, the Boccia/Curling festival at Mark Hall Academy was a huge success. With 18 teams (William Martin x2, St Albans x2, St Lukes x 2, Katherines x2, Church Langley x3, Tanys Dell x2, Pear Tree Mead x2, Milwards x 2 and Holy Cross) competing over two jam-packed hours, the event delivered on a wide range of initiatives with SEND pupils competing alongside their peers in this fully inclusive tournament. The children loved using the equipment (thanks to Church Langley Primary School for providing this!) and really improved with continuous practice; the games became closer and more thrilling as the afternoon wore on.

Eventually the runner-up and winners were:

                    Winners                   Runners-Up

Boccia:           St Lukes B            St Lukes A

St Albans B           Church Langley A

Curling:          Tanys Dell B         Pear Tree Mead A

                  Tanys Dell A           Milwards A

Thanks were given to the 6 Mark Hall Academy Sports Leaders who officiated confidently throughout the afternoon; thanks was also given to Gill Pardoe (Church Langley) and the various members of school staff for officiating and ensuring the smooth running of the event.

SGO for Harlow, David Stacey (Deputy Head teacher - Church Langley) spoke of his delight at seeing so many children totally engrossed in sporting excellence; he is planning on expanding the event to incorporate KS1 children and a larger number of teams/competitors.
