Girls from across Harlow came together to celebrate the Women's World Cup and take part in a festival of footballing delight. Held at Passmores Academy and organised by the Essex FA (and Laura Tyler of Pear Tree Mead) more than 200 youngsters took part in arrange of fun drills and practises before playing in a series of friendly games.
Schools from Holy Cross, Purford Green, Pear Tree Mead, Church Langley, Milwards, William Martin Juniors, Harlowbury, Hatfield Heath and Longwood came together to with the Years 3 and 4 playing in the morning, with the older Years 5 and 6 playing in the afternoon. Despite the variable weather the girls clearly enjoyed their chance to shine; gifts and certificates were distributed after each event and the lucky players even got the chance to chat and swap stories with Shayla Burgess (Watford Ladies Goalkeeper).
The event was a great success and the girls publicly thanked all the team from the Essex FA, Passmores Academy and their fantastic young leaders and Laura Tyler, who once again has gone beyond the walls of her own school to provide a fantastic opportunity for so many pupils in Harlow.
