Mini-Olympics Success for Years 1 and 2

Over 350 Year 1 and 2 children from many primary schools across Harlow made up 23 teams at the 2014 Sainsbury’s School Games Mini Olympics. The event was hosted by Church Langley Primary School who had 48 sports leaders (children from years 5 and 6) running the variety of sporting events. Asda were on hand with fruit and water for all of the children which they were very grateful for as it was an extremely hot day.Miss Lewis, the PE Co-ordinator at Church Langley Primary School said “It is lovely to see the children enjoying such a great variety of sports and having such a wonderful time; even children that do not always enjoy sport. We hope that the yearly Mini Olympics Festival encourages children to want to take part in more sporting activities in and out of school. I know that all of the school would join me in thanking David Stacey (Acting SGO and Deputy-Head) for ensuring all of the competitions and festivals have been able to take place for schools in Harlow this year.” Great sportsmanship was demonstrated by all of the children and every child received a medal for taking part.
