Harlow SSP Girls Kwik Cricket 2013

Harlow School Sports Partnership - Church Langley Take The Title For A Third Succesive Year!

 

On Tuesday 21st May 2013 over 100 participants, comprising 12 school teams turned up at Harlow Town Cricket Club to compete for the third annual Harlow SSP Girl’s Kwik Cricket Festival.

 

The teams all received coaching from the club’s coaches and then took aprt in a inter school competitive festival.

 

The first stage of the festival comprised group stages with the winner of each group progressing to the semi-finals.  Church Langley, Latton Green and Pear Tree Mead primary schools all made the semi-finals.

 

After some close semi’s Church Langley and Roydon made it into the final and after another close match Church Langley emerged victorious by 6 runs and retained the title they have won ever since the festival began. 

 

Church Langley will go onto represent Harlow Schools at the county final taking place on 2ndJuly at Billericay Cricket Club.

 

Whilst the final was taking place all the other school teams took part in friendly matches and Latton Green and Pear Tree Mead played for 3rdplace which Latton Green took.

 

The following schools entered teams: Abbotsweld, Church Langley (3 teams), Holy Cross (2 teams), Latton Green, Pear Tree Mead (2 teams), Roydon, St Lukes and Tany’s Dell

 

George Gardiner Partnership Manger; Harlow SSP said “it was great to see over 100 children competing against each other in such good spirit particularly given that the weather was not kind and we were not participating in cricket weather.. 

 

Everyone who has taken part in today deserves a massive thank you for making the day such a success with particular mention to the support the event gets from Harlow Town Cricket Club who hosted and assisted with the event and to Harlow College who supported the event with Sports Leaders”.
