Harlow SSP Mini-Hockey Festival 2013

Harlow School Sports Partnership - Mini-Hockey a 1st for Roydon!

On Tuesday 23rd and 30th April 2013 120 year 5/6 boys and girls, representing 12 teams competed in the annual Harlow School Sport Partnership Mini-Hockey Festival.

After some hard fought early group stages Church Langley, Latton Green, Pear Tree Mead and Roydon made it through to the semi-finals where.  Latton Green won their semi against Pear Tree Mead and then the drama started! The next semi went to extra time twice and then golden goal and finally as they couldn’t be separated it was decided (mainly because the children had been playing too long) to come back on the 30thApril to attempt to complete the event.  The semi again went to golden goal extra time and it looked like history repeating itself until Roydon broke and scored with 2 seconds left on the clock to make the final.

Roydon then continued their run and beat Latton Green 2-0 in another close match to become champions for the first time ever.

The following schools entered teams: Church Langley, Henry Moore, Latton Green, Nazeing, Pear Tree Mead, Roydon, St Lukes and Tany’s Dell.

A full set of place results are below and full results from the event can be viewed at our website www.harlowssp.co.uk

George Gardiner Partnership Manger; Harlow SSP said “everybody who took part in the event did really and everybody should be pleased with their performance.

Well done to Church Langley, Latton Green and Roydon for having the grace and sportsmanship and turn up again to play and once again thanks to Harlow College for supporting the event”
