Tag Rugby Final 2011

Jerounds Junior School take title for second year to become harlow school sport partnership Tag Rugby Championships 2011

On Tuesday 29TH November 12 year 5/6 mixed teams (over 120 children) representing 10 Harlow Primary schools braved the windy conditions and competed for the title of Tag Champions at Harlow Rugby Club.

The schools had all come in the top three of their qualifying events to make the final with a total of 33 primary school teams have entered the event  meaning over 450 children have taken part in the event.

The teams in the final were from Church Langley (2 teams), Jerounds Junior, Latton Green (2 teams), Longwood, Pear Tree Mead, Roydon, St Albans, St Nicholas, St Lukes and Water Lane

The teams competed in groups of 6 with each team playing 5 matches followed by positional play off games.  The winners and runners up from each group played semi-finals and a final.

Church Langley A, Jerounds Junior, Latton Green and St Nicholas made up the semi-final line up.  A repeat of their pool match and last years final (Jerounds won both) was ensured when Church Langley and Jerounds won their semi-finals.

Jerounds won a thrilling tight final 2-1 in the last moments of sudden death following extra time to become champions for the second year in a row.  They will now represent Harlow at the county final which is forming part of the Inaugural Essex School Games and is taking place in Harlow on January 18th 2012.

The whole event has been delivered in partnership with and fully supported by Stewards School, Burnt Mill School, Mark Hall School, Passmores Academy and Harlow Rugby Club.
