HUGE numbers attend MHA Cross Country event

And done! Once again, considering the weather before and the weather afterwards (Saturday morning) the Gods were definitely in our favour for yesterday’s Cross Country Event – the sun shone, the runners ran and the people smiled – well certainly the vast majority did!

Again, a HUGE thank you to everyone involved in the event at MHA - from the volunteers to the marshalls, to the Burnt Mill hares, to the staff helping each other and generally herding the children who were not running – it was a HUGE collective effort and the results were OUTSTANDING; thanks as ever to Malcolm Harris and Gill Pardoe for their work during and after the event.

Special THANKS to Rebecca Lott (Church Langley) who trudged across the swampy field on Thursday to set out the course and ensure that everything was ready for Friday afternoon. Alongside the 850+ runners there were another 500 adults in attendance making it clearly the largest event we hold. The venue continues to work really well and the kids clearly had a great time; the early start time ensured that the event was packed away by 2.45pm. We are still presented with issues of keeping spectators off the track and away from the schools but everything ran really well and bodes well for future events.

Congratulations to all the individual and team medallists, not to mention the countless numbers of runners who succeeded and ran great races themselves. The results have been emailed to all schools and the individual medallists (top 10) from each race and the winning team from each race are now invited to attend the County Level 3 finals in April. We wish them well.
