Thanks to the 8 teams who attended our first venture into Futsal indoors at Mark Hall Academy Sports Centre, it was an absolute pleasure to organise and be involved in. The standard of play throughout just got better and better and, once everyone was clear about the rules and styles of play, the performances certainly warranted more Futsal events later in the year.
The morning began with some hastily made phone calls to arrange suitable goals to be used inside the sports hall – thanks to Arnold Worton-Geer (Tanys Dell) for providing and dismantling his mini-soccer goals at 7.45am. (We have now purchased at set of indoor Futsal goals for the next event!) Teams from: Church Langley, Tanys Dell, Little Parndon, Cooks Spinney, St Nicholas, William Martin and St Albans came together to play in 2 groups of 4. The standard of play improved throughout the morning and there was plenty of goal-mouth action in the fast-paced format; the children adapted to the new rules with confidence and certainly benefitted from being able to watch other teams in action.
Having played their group matches, the final was contested between Church Langley and Tanys Dell A; it was an epic encounter with Tanys Dell coming back from 3-nil down to draw 3-3 with the last kick of the game. The teams agreed to share the trophy – which will be arriving soon!
Final standings:

3rdPlace - William Martin
4thPlace - St Nicholas
5thPlace – St Albans
6thPlace – Little Parndon
7thPlace – Tanys Dell B
