Despite the atrocious weather conditions throughout the entire day, the children and staff of Harlow’s Primary schools showed true grit and determination to complete both the Years 3/4 and the 5/6 inaugural Quad Kids events. Being held in the middle of June, should have been an ideal time to ‘tinker’ with the format (75m Sprint, 600m run, standing long jump and a howler throw) but the weather made things nearly impossible. However the kids really rallied (supported by some amazing adults) and sprinted through huge downpours and puddles to record some great scores.
As this was Harlow’s first attempt at running the Quad kids event, lots were learnt for next year - most notably try to pick a date when it’s sunny!
Special thanks to the Sports Leaders from Church Langley and the many staff from the different schools who pitched in, measured throws and jumps; stood in the pouring rain recording scores etc... it was a real ‘Dunkirk’ spirit of which I am very proud - sincerely thank you for all you support! We make a fantastic team.
